20 July 2017

PGA European Tour, promoter of this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open golf tournament, has ‘paired’ up with Evac+Chair International by employing the use of their stairway evacuation chairs which will enable mobility impaired guests easy access and egress in the event of an emergency situation.

The tournament is expected to attract in the region of 60,000 golf fans who will be following many of the world’s elite golfers, with VIP and hospitality guests watching from raised galleries that require staircase structures.

The Evac+Chair, recommended by SSL (Stairlift Scotland), is a lightweight easy to use device which glides effortlessly down stairways to assist with the quick and safe transfer of the mobility impaired.

Across all of our events we wanted to ensure our health & safety and evacuation plans are in place so that we can deal with a situation smoothly and calmly in the event of any emergency”, stated Will Linden, Assistant Operations Manager at the European Tour. “We will also be looking, where possible, to use the Evac+Chairs for future events where staircase structures are involved.”
